The development of lesson plans is a crucial aspect of my creative process. This aspect of my project has been continuously evolving through the past few months.

There are 4 main concepts informing the creative process of my project development:

- The Curriculum for Excellence (CfE)

- Contemporary Kids Music Educational Materials

- Scottish Pipe Band Music and Culture

- Learning Styles of Children

CfE and Scottish Pipe Band Music and Culture

"Deepening understanding of culture in Scotland" is a key "Experience and Outcome" of the CfE for primary school children; this intertwines with the theme of pipe band music and culture, to form the main basis of the thematic core and inform the creative process of lesson plan creation.

With this, I have created lesson plans with creative activities and learning experiences based on multiple aspects of pipe band music, Scottish culture and pipe band culture around the world.

Learning Styles

When beginning the development process for lesson plans, I studied examples of kids music tuition videos and read articles relating to the engagement of children in education; this allowed me to form an understanding of how to engage children. Importantly, it provided an understanding of the four common learning styles and how they can be used to inform the creation of learning materials.

The four main learning styles:

- Visual

- Auditory

- Reading and Writing

- Kinaesthetic

With this now informing the lesson creation process, I have set out to ensure that each lesson provides an appropriate learning experiences for each of these learning styles.

Contemporary Kids Music

As previously mentioned, studying kids contemporary music and music education videos was key to developing appropriate learning materials and creative works for PBDB. Beyond understanding learning styles, it has allowed me to understand how the lessons should look and sound in order to appeal to creative side of kids. I have begun development of easy to learn, 'instant fun', play along music activities that teach rhythm and simultaneously relate to the cultural learning aspects of each lesson.

Additionally, each lesson will feature a more complex version of the song that the kids will be able to have a freestyle 'jam' along with what they have learned in the lesson.
